Financial Crime Manager

We are currently looking to hire a Financial Crime Manager to join our Risk & Compliance business based in London.

The purpose of the role is:

  • To support the Financial Crime Senior Manager in ensuring that the financial crime framework across the UK is operating effectively.
  • To assist in the design, delivery and update of policies, processes and procedures relating to combatting financial crime.
  • To support the assessment of financial crime risks across the UK.
  • Resolve exceptions arising from key financial crime tools and systems.
  • Monitor and quality assure key financial crime controls across the UK.

Main duties are as follows:

  • Assist in updating the annual U.K. financial risk assessments and hold responsibility for tracking actions arising from the assessment through to completion.
  • Working with the Financial Crime Senior Manager to assess and implement any regulatory changes impacting the financial crime framework.
  • Assisting in the review and enhancement of departmental and business procedures relating to financial crime.
  • Supporting the development & rollout of face to face financial crime training, including ad-hoc training relating to policy and procedure updates to the wider organisation.
  • Conducting Enhanced Due Diligence relating to High Risk clients, critically evaluate the risks and provide recommendations to Senior Management.
  • Providing advisory support to relevant 1st line teams including dealing with exceptions arising from core financial crime systems and escalating issues to the appropriate level.
  • Undertaking regular reviews of the financial crime systems and processes, ensuring they are operating as expected. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Customer and Staff Screening
  • Client Onboarding
  • Transaction Monitoring

Skills required to undertake the role:

  • Analytical; in-depth analysis delivered in a disciplined and structured manner
  • Planning and organising; highly organised and able to manage own workload and simultaneous tasks to meet stretching targets and strict deadlines
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Able to build and maintain effective lines of communication with staff at all levels and relationship building
  • Autonomous, self-motivated and delivery focused; proven ability to prioritise, manage and deliver multiple tasks
  • Collaborator and team player; both within and outside the immediate team
  • Project management, specifically in implementing financial crime related tools
  • Good commercial awareness and knowledge of the asset or wealth management industry;
  • Detailed knowledge of the UK and EU financial crime regulatory regime and requirements;
  • Experienced in carrying out key financial crime activities; and
  • Good knowledge of ‘best practice’ and associated guidance in asset or wealth management firms and of the systems and controls employed to ensure financial crime risks are mitigated
